A Drop of Happiness.

A few days ago Valerie and I were walking on the streets of Barcelona, discussing Freud’s theory on “disturbing acts” and the symbolism of the “Black Madonna” or so called “La Morenita” in Spain. All of a sudden, V stopped in the middle of the street, with a very serious look on her face. At first I couldn’t understand what was going on, I thought we might have bumped into someone we know, her reaction would have been very understandable then, because we looked… let’s say not fresh at all. After 10 of my  totally far-away and dramatized guessings, she said something I would never forget: “Do you think our consciousness perceives the happiness we are experiencing right now?” I didn’t at first understand what she was talking about, but then she carried on “It’s just that sometimes I get to understand that I was happy only after a while, in a moment of sadness…” That was when I perfectly got her idea. Humans are usually so busy and malcontent, that we simply don’t realize how happy we are in a particular situation, in a particular place, with a particular person. Our whole lives we pursue satisfaction, facing all the difficulties we get on our way to it,  concentrating on unnecessary things and struggles, but it’s when we finally achieve the perfect moment, that our conscious rejects the idea of us being happy. 
That is why I think each of us should, at least once in a while, stop everything and realize the true moment of happiness, otherwise we risk getting old regretting our ignorance and coldness.


So just be happy and never miss a chance to admit it!
